There are many important questions you should ask when inquiring about handling. It is essential that you know you can trust your dog with this person.
Below are a few questions we recommend.
Question: How does the handler travel to the shows?
Answer: We travel in a Ford Econoline Van. All the dogs ride in crates with us, and all of the equipment is kept in a small cargo trailer.
Question: How are the dogs cared for at home when the handler is not traveling?
Answer: We have four separate yards for the dogs to get plenty of time to run and play. The dogs are all kept in the house with us. We take the time to introduce each new dog to the group and make sure they all get along. The dogs all love to play together!
Question: Does the handler focus on building a close relationship with each dog being shown?
Answer: We feel it is the most important aspect of dog handling to develop a relationship with each and every dog. Each dog get individual training, conditioning, and special attention. The dogs quickly learn that showing is fun, and they love spending time with us. There is nothing we enjoy more than when a dog gets excited to see us. We love each dog that we have the privilege of showing.
Question: What grooming and handling experience does the handler have?
Answer: Tina and Kit have both loved working with dogs their entire lives. Tina has grown up with Welsh Springer Spaniels and has been practicing grooming for years. She quickly learned to groom other breeds and now works as a professional groomer during the week. Tina has been showing dogs since she was 8 years old, and working with Colette Livingston gave her the experience she needed to perfect showing all breeds. Kit bought her first Welsh Springer Spaniel when she was 13 years old and began working and traveling with Betty Cummings, an all breed dog handler in New York.
